But you don't need an ID to ride the bus, rent an apartment, place money orders, buy groceries, or live your life in the US.
It's not just about having ID, it's gov. photo ID that identically matches voter registered name. Also creates problems for married women
(Like, if there was fraud, don't you think that number would be higher from all the fraudulent voting?)
I never understand why people think that voter fraud is a problem in a country where >40% of the population doesn't vote.
Also, requesting a birth certificate is fucking expensive. I had to do it for my marriage license and was shocked by the fees (in Maryland)
