Working woman's outfit, though it seems unlikely such a woman would tightlace her corset as shown here. Working women absolutely wore corsets (and all the rest), but tightlacing was more of a dainty high fashion lady kind of thing.
I'm a regional lead in a women's employee resource group for a heavy civil construction company. The battle to be taken seriously in a male dominated field is real, and I gotta say this isn't exactly the representation most of us are looking for. That said, there are other reasons to wear high vis vests and maybe this is a dream come true for someone.
I love Pride and Prejudice as much as the next person but I have a major soft spot for Northanger Abby. I love Jane Austen's humor in that one - it's delightfully meta.

That works when you have the support of your supervisor and team and aren't "running lean" such that your work is achievable in normal hours. It should be the rule, but... isn't :(
Awake me will move the cat if I really want to. Sleepy me seems to think the world will end if the cat is disturbed. Sleepy me will hover near sleep for hours wishing the cat would move, but cannot move her.

This. Sometimes a true patch can save it because it will be anchored farther from the point of weakness, but as you say, the extra thickness isn't exactly comfortable in most places that fabric will wear out.

I tend to agree, except when an image is being passed off as real in a situation where authenticity matters. The AI-generated images and videos of the LA fires come to mind, because the intent was to manipulate people to feel and think a particular way. As if the authentic images and videos somehow weren't enough.
And literally every opiate/opioid ever formulated. "No, no, this time we got it right!"
Another comment said something about the family being litigious.

Being convicted of a felony here basically erases all of your rights. It's incredibly shameful. When you consider how often people are tricked into pleading guilty without understanding the full consequences of that decision, it's abominable.
#2 this actually happened in a book I just finished reading: "Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine." A bit of a slow burn but I recommend it.

My coworker was happy he won because he's "gonna send the Mexicans back to Mexico." She was born in Mexico and has a green card. Unfathomable.

Yes! It's become my favorite modern fiction book. Best read 100% blind imo. If you liked the Martian (book or movie) you're in for a treat and that's all you need to know.
#5 did they change something recently? I'm used to Amazon returns being straightforward, but we returned an item last week and it took about a thousand clicks and several non-obvious buttons to request an actual refund
Also the more I look the more I suspect the gray plaid fabric on the table is the same as the one I made a flannel shirt out of. Perchance did it hail from the land of Joann?
I admire your bravery choosing stretch velvet for your first wearable garment, and it looks incredible! There are so many long edges on the bias - did that give you any trouble? Those closure details are rad, too. Congrats, well done!
