Common sense. Get bit by a small dog who can't inflict as much damage as a larger one, needs less attention.
Small yapper-type dogs bite, but they don't hurt as bad or do as much damage as a working dog's bite, so they don't get reported as often.
I dunno how or why. Her siblings all lived pretty long too. No hip issues or any such horrors.
