Manufactures can put any date they want on food. The can say best before or consume before without any science behind it. Only baby food has a law stating that a date must be on it. That milk does require a date they just guess, candy is a guess. In the past food had no date on it and people would know when it was bad. The date on food is made up by the manufacturer. The only food that is required by law to have a date indicating it should no longer be consumed is baby food. There is so much food waste because people don't know how to tell what is bad and what is good.
