…and of course, the people committing tax fraud are the people always complaining about tax fraud.

He would love it and so would his startlingly base base. The jenius of drumpf is that despite the fact that everything he touches is destroyed, he can use it to his advantage. He rolls in failure and shame like a pig in shite and enjoys it the whole time. He has no integrity and no dignity. A complaining reporter would be a great distraction from… well, you know… everything else he’s doing. It would please him.

Appropriate use of meme. I’m so happy to see this meme being used for something positive! We really are starved for ethical, rational behavior.

You didn’t have a choice. Ultimately , you pay your taxes at gunpoint.

They never thought their charges would stick. It was always about threatening and intimidating people. This has Steven Miller all over it. He wants to make an example and make all Americans afraid.

If it makes you feel better, he’s ruining the USA’s economy too.

I agree that interacting with them gives them power, but the way we used to ignore them was so successful that they ended up dominating the country.

Once someone has decided to dominate you, there is no solution that doesn’t involve either combat or escape. The latter is not tenable for the majority of the population, so we have only the first solution. This has been repeatedly demonstrated in the past.

“Moving on” is overrated. We are all carried along whether we like it or not, and there is a big difference between being stuck in the past and kepping hold of what is important. “Moving on” often means “stop incomveniencing me with your grief.” It’s really a terrible phrase that diminishes the speaker as well as the intended audience, because it’s almost always a euphemism for selfish behavior.

I find the nation’s capitol being bathed in a creepy orange light to be amazingly apropos.

No, six flags was fun for everyone who showed up. This is private amusement at public cost.

Theoretically this is also a group of people who have had their backgrounds checked and “should” have less incidence of crime. So it suggests a systemic problem with officer selection.

I suppose “thanatopsis” wouldn’t have fit.

I understand the historical accuracy of your statement, but I don’t think it’s as important as it’s often made out to be. Europeans and their colonists believed that non-whites were inherently inferior long before the 17th century, so does it really matter that “race” as we know it today didn’t exist? There was an equivalent idea in play.

Sorry if this sounds pedantic, but ackchuyally… congress makes laws. The court just vets them. Supposedly. Except now with the “shadow docket” that is something they made up themselves, it’s a star chamber. Blech.

Sadly, it _is_ very normal. Not as in “acceptable”, but as in “this isn’t unusual.”

This is one of the most impressive examples of a lack of reading comprehension that I’ve seen lately.

Why, yes, we’ve learned something: we’re far more efficient at killing each other than we were then!

Objects in orbit are falling, but they are moving forward at the same speed, so they don’t get any lower in altitude. Think of it as falling forwards. They’re traveling parallel to the surface, so the flight path has a curve in it to change from their starting orientation.

He deserves it, but it would hand martyrdom to his zealots on a silver platter. He should be taken down - legally - and made to face consequences. That would be the most useful thing. Having said that: COVID: YOU HAD ONE JOB!

Same. I don’t want to help Darth Vader run the Death Star.

It could almost be inspiring: “This repellent, corrupt moron wouldn’t have achieved anything without the power of working together! A team can accomplish what an individual cannot!”
