Yep. Let them all volunteer. But forget lead dust, if the US is still using depleted uranium ammo, they’re going to be inhaling a lot more than lead.
Or maybe we should volunteer them to be first because all the lead dust should shield them!
Amiright?

I used to love Hall and Oates, they were one of my favorites from my youth . Now when I hear them, I just get this awful feeling like my stomach is actually shrinking or dropping. Ruins everything for me and I just can’t listen to them anymore. Makes me so sad. It’s not just political differences, because to me, what’s going on now is not just Democrats vs Republicans, it’s good vs evil. And if you’re supporting evil, your work is no longer entertaining for me. It’s as simple as that.

Then you must remove social safety nets so their brains don’t develop properly and destroy the educational system so they grow up not stupider and uneducated.

In addition to the salt, add a tsp of almond extract and cinnamon to taste for a Mexican variation.

True story. About 25 years ago, I was doing UR ( utilization review) for a hospital. I had a book they updated every year that listed the different pieces of information that justified each diagnosis. I would have to go through the chart looking for the vital signs, symptoms, tests, medication usage, etc that justified the pt being admitted to the hospital with that diagnosis.
I HAD TO SIGN A WAIVER PROMISING I WOULD NOT SHARE THE BOOK WITH ANY DOCTORS.

I’m a nurse. I see enough shit to know that there are many disabled people and many ways to be disabled.
The rest of us are all just temporarily able bodied.

Worst pizza I ever had was on a little all you can eat buffet place in Buckhorn, PA. Literally tasted like ketchup on saltines with store bought Parmesan crumbs on top. (I refuse to call that stuff cheese.) Yuck

Also, I keep Red Boat Fish Sauce on hand for that extra umami kick it gives to a lot of things you’d never guess it was in, so score!

As the aforementioned SO, I’d like to thank you for the suggestions. Yep, he’s right, can’t stand fishy stuff but these seem very doable. Thanks!

Also block basic food for nutrition. Starving children make stupid adults, much easier to manipulate

There’s about 300,000 Haitians in Florida, sure would be a shame if they flipped Florida blue as a special thanks to Mr. Dump.

So town was shutting down, couldn’t get workers to staff their factories. Some people in town invited the Haitians to come, which they did. Factories open, neighborhoods revived, town growing. Of course, some people complained on right wing media and neonazi hate group Blood Tribe have been there a while trying to fuck this up. They are, of course, delighted that trump picked up their BS and is broadcasting it widely. Hopefully other Haitian groups will turn out in high numbers to vote!

Know what’s funny? Back in the (medieval) day, red and pink were reaallllyy hard to get dye for, so it was the “important” people, ie boys, who were dressed in pink, the girls had to make do with common old blue. The more things change…….

I use this exact thing when my husband does some that irritates me-I think ahead to what it might be like if he was gone, realize that I might look back on moments such as this one and think, I wish he was still here to do this. Lets me realize that 99% of the things I get irritated over don’t really matter and the tiny 1% is something I can address soon. Makes getting along so much easier and less stressful and gives me joy in the present.

Just listened to this podcast from Jen Rubin today and OMG, what an eye opener. John Gartner, who is a psychologist and psychotherapist, discusses the behaviors and mistakes trump is making that are clearly diagnostic for ongoing and rapidly worsening dementia. Scary times, folks.

No, it’s worse than that. They have algorithms correlate meds, procedures, lab tests, everything with specific diagnoses and if something doesn’t match, Boomer! Denied! Sorry, don’t know how to add links but there’s a ProPublica article from 3/25/23 that addresses this. It calls out Cigna specifically but it’s a common practice among lots of insurances, particularly Medicare Advantage plans. They know only like 5% of denials are ever challenged. Then they get to keep more money.

In the Museum of Natural History in NYC, there’s a fossil of a fish with another fish stuck in its throat. It obviously never heard of the “Never eat anything bigger than your head” rule. When I do something stupid, I take some comfort in the fact that no one will be laughing at said mistake millions of years from now.

Rn who worked at an alcohol treatment center a few years back. Go to hospital now. Detox off anything isn’t fun but detox off alcohol can kill you. Alcohol is a depressant and your brain gets used to working harder and faster to keep you alive while drinking. Take the depressant away suddenly and your brain is still working faster and harder with nothing to slow it down. You can seize or stroke out that way. Get help now. Good luck, @OP.

Case manager here. I deal with getting prior authorization for various medical needs. I you missed it, Cigna was company hit in a ProPublica expose for an amazing number of denials. One doctor was noted to have had 65,000 denials in just one month. They have an algorithm they run claims through that can deny 50 claims at a time. In Michigan, not one home health care company will deal with them. They have a rep for approving services and then refusing to pay. Disgusting and immoral.
