I have a very long commute. I am reasonably positive that not accelerating to get on the highway is the single greatest cause of traffic.
Plus the cost of housing etc once you are there it realistically would be within reach of most middle classes.
If Musk is to believed. One of his starships will cost 2 mil to launch and carry 100 people. So 20k per person to get there.

Pilots are still controlling power settings and monitoring to make sure the autopilot does what it supposed to.
The autopilot will follow lateral and vertical guidance either inputted directly by the pilots or taken from a navigation source like GPS
