Coming in pretty darn fast there... oh, it's sped up.

I keep hearing it echo, "When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies."

Rules of engagement are what keep your enemies from going scorched earth.
If you know your enemy will show no mercy and give no quarter, why let any of them live, or their towns left standing?

There's no money to be made in fixing things. (Well, there is, but that requires investment and long term thinking.) But there's plenty of profit to be made selling outrage!

And your job is claiming to give you a generous 1% cost of living increase.
But if you complain about it, you're fired. Good luck in this economy.

Fun fact, if you do IVF in Louisiana, ALL embryos must be preserved indefinitely because of this.

To be fair, college was practically a guaranteed way out of poverty from like the 1600s until the 1990s.

It still messes with my head that the Sahara is larger than the continental United States. Like, imagine traveling from Florida to New York, and it's ALL desert, the whole way!

In a much higher bitrate than you'll ever get from your streaming service.

Yup. I was more than perfectly happy paying a few dollars for the way they wanted me to stream. But then the prices kept going up, and then the ads. Oh, absolutely not.
Then I hear people say "But cheap streaming isn't a viable business model!"
Well, maybe they should have never sold it as their model in the first place.

Every legal option is bought and blocked. The only legal recourse we have left are midterms, and I'm not holding my breath. Roughly 50%+ of my home state would sacrifice their firstborn to this administration.
And finally, it's a cult, and no one wants to turn him into a martyr.

Something you have to understand about these people.
They believe that if it doesn't exist TO MAKE PROFIT, it has no right to exist.
Leaving money on the table, is the equivalent of mortal sin to a devout Catholic.

Angola went from being a plantation to being a prison farm.
Seriously.

TV Stations.
There WAS a law in place that companies (Gray, Sinclair, and Nexstar particularly) could not own over 40% of a market. That's been repealed.
One of our large cities had 3 stations. Two were just bought out by the third.
This is bad for democracy.

The Grand Theater came to town, and ran out every old mom and pop theater.
Then they got bought out by Santikos, who immediately closed the ticket booth and I swear finds a new way to make the movie experience worse every single time I go.

Calling it now.
Eventually they'll do genetic XY testing, and a lot of veterans are going to be find out they're not XY men, and are going to post angry videos after being kicked out of the military.

I was raised in end-times evangelical theology. One thing that always baffled me about the end-times was the before it could kick off, the whole world had to come together hating Israel.
I couldn't imagine a scenario where that would ever happen, but here we are.
Far-right evangelicals see this as an absolute win.

Louisiana, currently about $3.60/gal.
But we also give BILLIONS each year in tax money to oil companies.
We're spending it, we just don't see it at the pump.

Someone I well respected, until recently, has started chugging the kool-aid. Their entire social media feed has quickly pivoted to endless fear of Muslims and Sharia law taking over the United States.

Sort of. I can say that's not possible and point out why. Thankfully the sales person agrees with me, because they've been on enough shoots to know this isn't going to work. So we quickly scramble together what we can do.

Most clients really have no idea what they want, and way too often I'm running in and shooting a commercial without even having a script ready. 😭

Until it affects profits, they won't care.
Same thing with their dish services losing out to streaming. Before that, their contracted distributors weren't allowed to hock every product under the sun.
Also, Dish bought and then sat on a significant portion of the cell phone wireless spectrum, with "plans" to implement it and become another carrier. Then other companies came in and started eating their lunch.
