As long as it takes. It's not just about patiently waiting, but doing, meeting with those who can help and make societal changes. Like MLK.
There's a reason why Ghandhi and MLK are displayed in the same Atlanta museum. MLK taught what Ghandhi taught in peaceful protesting.
Yes, protests cause inconvenience with the hope of others listening. Rioting, violence, theft, and physical fighting occur with impatience.
Sporadic unnecessary violence and unnecessary failure in society.
Protest is there best method. Riots will only produce failure in society. Ghandhi and MLK are in the same Atlanta museum for a reason.
Violence hurt the nonviolent protesters' cause, cause rifts in trust. It had to be overcome in order to work out civil rights.
Some chose violence. But who did they work with for changes? Dr King and other trustworthy peaceful protesters.
Really? What did the violent protesters accomplish? Nothing but loss. What did peaceful protests accomplish in civil rights? Everything.
Got to change hearts of the people with love before society will truly change. You will never fully motivate people by fear.
And yet no riots that ended well and with improved changes in society.
Precisely. No riots, no crimes being committed. Only peaceful, consistent protests will make the change. Lead with patience, not hate.
The changes are still occurring, decades later. His speeches and work spanned nearly his whole life, and Dr King died not yet knowing.
If we let it. We have a choice every time to choose love over hate.
He was willing to go to prison and grave leading peaceful protests for the change of the Nation he loved and dreamed of better times.
True change doesn't happen overnight.
It was about compromise. It was about change. It wasn't going to happen over night. It was about patience and persistence.
It's a long road. We need now patience and peaceful protesting. Hate will not drive out hate, said Dr King, only love can do that.
