I prefer to use the sledgehammer method. I intentionally break key parts of the the code until the output or error message changes.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
Hounds especially are much more likely to pick up a scent or chase after something and keep going until they're tired or bored miles away

If shoe is shaped right, premade holes provide safe guide. But on rare occasions a nail will go the wrong way and hit stuff. "Hot nailing"
A good farrier can zip through in about 30 mins or so
