I still have the toothpick on my keychain knife, but the tweezers broke long ago. I bought it in Liechtenstein in 2008, and I've carried it on my keys every day since then. Replacement parts are available, though. The spring on the scissors broke, too, and I got a new spring from an outdoor store.
The microwave can heat a liquid above boiling point without actually boiling it. It's just waiting for some disturbance to start boiling, and your spoon was finally enough to get it started. I was always warned of that as a kid.

The "arctic circle" is at latitude 87.4° while on Earth it's at 67°. On the pole the sun never rises higher than about 2.6° and never sets deeper than that same angle. I computed the Sun's altitude at the venus north pole for the next three years. It seems to alternate between about 3 months of night and 4.5 months of daytime.
The "beer floating". An event where you get something that floats, and use it to float down the river while drinking beer. Absolute pain in the ass because the people leave all that rubbish in the river.
To be fair, if the question was "what sport could we play on unicycles?" then floorball is one of the more sensible choices.
Even if it was supposed to be a three hour tour, it doesn't say how long the storm blew them for, could have been days.

It's weird how strong the sensory memory is; I can easily imagine poking at a loose tooth with my tongue until it comes off, and it's been almost 35 years.
Though I agree it's not a good practice even with the safety pin.

My neighbour is into classic American cars and has a pimped-up 1960s Impala with hydraulic suspension, and also curb feelers like those. I think they're for feeling when the ground is too bumpy, it has almost zero clearance when riding low.
An ekranoplan is basically a very fast boat. It looks like an airplane, and it doesn't touch the water when moving, but it can't fly higher than a few meters above the water.
It's an endless source of amusement on this site

The building in front of the cathedral in this shot is the new Radisson hotel on Vuorikatu 24, so the cameraman was maybe on top of the Opera house, or in a building somewhere on Urheilukatu, so about 1.75 to 2.25 km away, depending on where exactly.
