Grew up in the rural midwest, still here... I love being a parent, love my dogs and my cats. Tech and automotive enthusiast, don’t know much about sports. This site always brightens my day! Thank you imgur!!

I have the $8 Netflix for the wife and kids to use, other than that it's a rooftop antenna and whatever can be streamed free with ads... that is it, $8 lol

Now I'm mad at myself for not being able to remember the name of this song

I fully understand that taxes are a necessary part of modern life, but property tax shouldn’t exist for single family homes and small businesses. There should never be a time the government can take your home because you can’t afford the taxes. Property taxes mean you will forever be a “renter”. If you think you own your home, just stop paying your property taxes and see what happens… it will be taken from you and sold at public auction. That shouldn’t exist

Now I really feel old... I remember when this was a fresh meme

I am genuinely impressed with this, it looks extremely functional. I would want one if I didn't already have something far less expensive and more useful... 30+ years ago my dad and I had a custom small equipment trailer built for our outdoor power equipment business. It has a 7' x 12' wooden load floor with a single drop axle and large expanded metal tailgate. The load floor is a little over a foot off of the ground. A standard two wheel dolly can load that appliance in seconds and be done.

Hey... I understood that reference! Also, witnessed original "the.gif" back in the day

I'm old enough that the first thing that came to mind was how impossible this would be for me to do and how much it would hurt to try

1951 or 1952 Ford 8N, I can narrow it down to those two years based on the location of the distributor and the fact it has a tachometer cable.

I am 4th generation in our family business. I have worked with my father for over 30 years. I deeply feel for you, him, and the situation. I have pondered this circumstance countless times, my dad is almost 72 and I’m keenly aware that it won’t last forever. I hope you both find peace and comfort eventually

Tell me you don’t have kids without actually telling me you don’t have kids.

You don't have to worry about this if you don't have insurance! I haven't had health insurance for about 15 years, it sucks. Please don't follow me for any life tips...

A couple times per month as kids my sister and I stayed with our grandparents on Saturday night and went to church with them on Sunday morning. It was a non dramatic service, but well before I was even 10 years old I decided rather firmly that this religion thing was bogus at best and by the time I was an adult I realized that the worst people I had encountered in life were the "most religious". Currently in my 40's it all still holds true.

Mass merchants have put almost all other local options out of business in my small town too. I shopped local until the very last days I could

I can top that... I haven't followed a single series of any kind for more than a decade. Mostly because I'm working insane hours just to keep the bills paid, makes it super simple to not have a clue about any current shows :/

That dad was 100% concentrating too!

The next 4+ years will make 2024 seem like nothing. I'll probably age 20 years worth by the end of the shit show coming

I don't know squat about that industry, but it seems odd to me that the big corporate drug stores all seem to be struggling and by everything I can see our local independent drug store seems to be thriving and even growing...

Don't forget that Trump and his cronies have spent years telling their followers to only listen to certain sources of "information", many things we see as obvious they never even hear of. They stay firmly in their information silos eating up the fear and hatred they are being fed

I actively avoid anything AI in my daily life, I can't see that changing. I don't want to remove the human aspect, I don't want AI replacing my basic search, or creating content for me, I don't want it, period.

I’m torn on the loud pipes bit, I know how much I appreciate hearing a properly tuned engine being allowed breath freely. On the other hand some people just do it to be annoying. Most of my friends have a saying “If it’s too loud, you’re too old”…

Don’t forget that many of those smaller companies that they gobbled up had also been purchasing their competitors before they got purchased
