The state is so completely gerrymandered that they don't even pretend to care about the state anymore. Texas has been billed as Republican Mecca for so long that the people who get elected to government are looking outward at the national stage. Look at Abbot, Paxton, and Cruz. When is the last time any of them advocated for Texas? For Texans? It doesn't happen, they're too busy dancing and throwing a fit over national politics and seeking attention for advancement.
Devils advocate here, but the issue here is the source of his search, not the fact that he looked up something. Medicine is a very, very, big field and no one knows everything. The way that's phrased would likely discourage people from looking up information to confirm their very fallible human memory, rather than just discouraging AI chatbots as the resource they confer with.
Counterpoint: It's a pretty well known fact that the Jungle was focused on the treatment of the workers and that people reacted by getting upset at the revelations at how the sausage was made. The person was only pointing out how the original comment mirrored that trend when the book released.
