Lovely retro PC setup. They're starting to get pretty hard to find as a complete set like this - most people didn't keep hold of them like they did with their childhood NES or Megadive or whatever. The classic 3DFX cards are stupid expensive, too.
I read an article about the people who were making these things and they were just what you'd expect - hipster twats shitting out repetitive, slightly edgy/meme-y cartoon characters with minor variations, but no AI involved. A little similar to the figure punk scene around the turn of the century, but an awful lot more cynical and money-grubbing.
You just had 3 out of 9 supreme court justices say "fuck democracy" loud and clear. That should scare the shit out of you.
Wrong. https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/electrocute
You electrified yourself as a child. If you electrocuted yourself, you'd be dead. (The "-cuted" part comes from "executed".)
It isn't always easy to convince programmers of this, though, eh?
"The mythical man-month", still a relevant read today.
Guarantee he thinks of himself as a "10X developer", and that it carries over from IT (where its existence is debatable) to being a CEO.
Bollocks. There are idiots everywhere but the scale of the problem is unique to America.
If you're talking about America, no, it absolutely has not been "pushed further left". It's a centrist party by any sensible measure.
It just looks revolting, I don't get it at all. Same with the lipo lips. I guess some guys must love it, but it ain't for me.
Played again recently on Switch and was pretty fucked off that they didn't fix any of that shit. No excuse Nintendo. Mario 64 Remake when?
Yeah. It's really odd how some games hold up and others don't. In general early 3D is pretty rough, and SA/SA2 definitely fit that.
You're right about piracy not being key. N64 and PS2 were a nightmare, DC is simple and straightforward by comparison. It was appreciated.
Bad controllers, too, and That's murder for a game system.
3DO-like console standards became the mainstream back in the 90s and all that console war bullshit is just not a thing. But that price, eek.
The 3DO absolutely has DRM, the root RSA key was finally cracked about 10 years back. I still think there's a parallel universe where
Got the wrong console there bud, Crash Team Racing was PSX.
Neither did I, except myself! It sank like a rock here in the UK.
Sometimes find myself saying that it has aged terribly, but I didn't care for it new, either. Fascinating and impressive game, just no fun.
Once all the shops stopped stocking DC games I felt pretty alright about downloading them instead. Ikaruga's pretty hard to top, anyway!
Shouldn't be too hard to find a PS pad adapter, if you swing that way.
I played Sonic Adventure as an 18-yr-old and I was not impressed. It is one janky fucking game and no mistaking.
Just looked it up and the fandom wiki backs up what I'm saying. I completed that game on DC and especially towards the end it was onerous.
Widely considered its downfall. Weirdly I did read an interview w/ a Sega exec where he rubbished the idea, said it was steamrolled by PS2.
I remember getting irritated by the high frequency of random battles. I think the Gamecube port addressed that.
DC was cheap compared to the competition, $199 at launch (and dropped fast IIRC). It was a clear gen ahead of PSX/N64, too, no comparison.
The Pocketstation (Sony's VMU) was huge in Japan, one game sold 1.5m copies. It did come out after the VMU, to be fair.
I learned about US politics at school in the UK back in '99 or so.
What happens if you don't? Any long-term effects?
