Better check the ripple if you have a cheap china DC/DC converter (in case you have an oscilloscope). Also check, that the linear voltage regulator does not overheat. Did the orignal power supply have a 9 V output? Especially if you have this original console, damaging it would be too bad.
Reminds me of the couchsurfing HQ in SF. I visited it in 2011. Nice people, I had lunch with the team. They had a great spirit. This was also destroyed by a greedy corporation.

Well, I know enough people who drove the beetle who say I it oversteering very badly because of the motor being on the rear axle. Not fun, just pure danger. Audi or the NSU TT had front wheel drives in the 60s, which performed better
