I loved this album when it came out but, yeah, Cult of Personality rocks - and the lyrics seem even more appropriate today.
Thanks - and what a great analogy! I'd like to continue working on it even though I don't expect miracles of playing it perfectly! I tried this last week and it sounded really rough so I'll get riding that "train" and see where it takes me!

The list of 'bad taste inducing' things concerning Billy Corgan grows with each day! lol

For slide playing like this, 99% of the time I play with a glass slide. The curve of the spoon allows me to slur certain notes more easily. The handle also lets me jump up several frets as well with a flick of the wrist. I actually sometimes play with a spoon in my right hand as a slide or a pick (it can be used rhythmically to strum chords, make interesting sounds, textures, etc.) so thought I'd see if it can used as a slide as well so I can switch while playing.

Thanks for sharing! Someone you might like and who is quite different is Nigerian guitarist, Mdou Moctar. He combines rock and Tuareg guitar music. Very cool stuff.
For some reason I wasn't able to hear the audio from the link you sent so I looked them up on YT, thinking they were the same. I'll try again - I'm very curious to hear what they sound like as I love heavy blues.

Our old band had a drummer who would sometimes play too loud for the clubs we played at so he'd often have to play with brushes to keep the volume in control. Try that out if you end up getting the kit!

What kind of music are you into? If you like classic rock (always a great place to start), ones that spring to mind for learning rock guitar riffs is Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water", Black Sabbath's "Iron Man", etc. Green Day is largely chords based songs so aren't too hard to learn for the left hand (if you know barre chords) but helps you improve with your strumming. ZZ Top is a good place to start too as they don't tend to have a lot of chords to learn.
