There’s No USDA oversight. The zoos own the animals and breed (inseminate), trade, and kill them with legal impunity.
Just because an org is a non-profit doesn’t mean that they don’t have criteria. It is a tax status, 501c3. Weak links get booted.
Really? What zoo can maintain the profit necessary 2 b an AZA.org member by showing us that? They kill sick and old animals, not nurse them.
The AZA.org & its zoos, aquariums, Seaworld, etc are “charity” non profit. Buying animals is expensive, millions. That’s where $ goes.
Yeah except the rise of zoos was a way to show off the animals humans were making ever more scarce. Conservation isn’t their business model.
