I think it's interesting to note when comparing the soviets and the nazis that soviet atrocities were committed in opposition to their values, whereas nazi atrocities are 100% what they wanted and advertised for. You won't find many neo-nazis arguing that nazi germany betrayed the ideals of national socialism.

Was going to say. Office jobs are also exhausting, in a different way. Working in an office will make you want a physical job and vice-versa but that's not the core problem. Our modern jobs are designed to siphon all our day's energy. It doesn't really matter what you do, after a whole day of work you will likely be too spent, either mentally, physically or both, to do anything really productive for yourself. Humans are not made to work that much.
