Veterinarian here - many older cats develop kidney disease at some point and can live for years with special diet. Not a death sentence.

They are beautiful, but they are bitches! The males tend to be much nicer.
So, so sorry. Just lost my 15 year-old pug soul mate and I don't think I will ever get over the pain of it. They don't live long enough.
