So it wasnt the DA, he pushed for sentencing as an adult and recommended 78 years with the no contest. Court moved him back to a juvenile. He is trying to have it redone but double jeopardy applies to youth courts as well. That is why is pushing for federal appeal. Again, all this is moot if they try him for attempted murder so its not him being a saint. How he was tried was a state law, sentencing was judge...DA is almost a non player with the no contest plea
Just pointing out, none of this was a deal. He pleaded no contest. The results would have been 78 years had he been tried as an adult. But they reversed course and tried him as a youthful offender, didnt spend one day in jail.
He pleaded no contest, doesn't admit or deny guilt but with said plea. He was 17 when arrested (don't know the age when crimes were alleged to have occurred), and a judge changed it from an adult to youthful offender. Youthful offender for a person charged with first degree rape, domestic assault, assault by strangulation and rape by instrumentation.
What worries me is will we be able to recognize when the world starts to return to normal, or have we spun so far that its going to take us truly going off the rails before change happens. What is then the likelihood that it happens as it should?
Twice. That is the key here. This wasn't a youthful mistake or misunderstanding of the moment. This was pattern with intent. When was the last time you heard of something like that stopping on its own?

The majority of the degrees are deemed non professional including Engineering and STEM, MBAs etc. Its really only MDs, LAW, Dental. Important to note that these are all graduate and doctoral programs, not undergrad and they are still eligible for loans, just limted to $100k. In reality, an employed nurse, engineer or teacher should have their employer footing the majority of the bill and wouldnt cause the employee to take on new loans. One note, theology is bull#^ to be listed as eligible.

This likely won't be seen since it's four years later, but the 'presumed innocent' in every description is not at all the correct term. Everyone is presumed innocent. The term they were looking for is exonerated. Why would a group pushing for legal aid not know this with these.
A little bit removed from this post but I am curious how long the scene took to film? I did a movie like this in elementary school as well and it TOOK FOREVER for a mins of screen time, probably 6 hours or so...the actor sucked and couldn't do his lines, issues with the kids, etc.

As a Meteorologist this is all well and good but immediately pundits are going to point to the fact there aren't any maps showing those temps from your opening where food is grown, not to mention corn in 2023 set records for production in the US while soy was down 2% (normal swings). Climate change is real. The warmest day in history glibally happened this year on a Sunday a few months back; food wise, though, we didn't see loss with that 2023 increase.
