Have you not read anything about Steve-o? Man was a genuine addict who with the help of the jack ass crew and rehabilitation is completely sober now. He is apparently the nicest guy.
It's weird to think how these guys are genuine friends but for the jackass filmed right after Steve-o got out of rehab they all agreed to be on a completely sober set just to help him. So insane stunts and no pain killers and such.

I believe he was hoping the same thing pence did that trump would go to jail or just die early on leaving his puppet in charge. As the man openly wants a technocracy and the government to not exist and a puppet could help do that.
From what I read, his career is basically what happens when you aren't enough of a fuck up to discharge but they don't particularly care to have you around, so they just stick ya somewhere and forget about you.
