You don't understand solar. The only one that can run non-stop is hydro. Batteries are inefficient. Show me a current global smart grid.
You are right, that money goes to support nuke jobs, 475,000 in America. Energy costs money, solar panels need to be replaced ALL THE TIME.
Cost of replacement is low but frequency of replacement is high. Cost of maintenance is decently low, other than cleaning them.
