I’m well aware of what the green belt is - I’ve lived next to it for most of my life. It’s not just about “pristine” countryside; it’s about preserving natural habitats, offering green space for everyone to enjoy, and serving as a crucial buffer against unchecked urban sprawl and corporate overreach. Growing up, I was actively involved in protests against developments by companies like Warner Bros and major housing firms who tried to pressure local councils into eroding those protections.

I just want to understand what the legitimate criticisms are. I assumed it was peer reviewed, but having read some of the sources others have posted I can see it wasn't. This is rightly an emotional topic, given that recommendations can be weaponised against humanity dignity, but I'm looking for the dispassionate and evidence-based reasoning.

I thought the Cass Review was legit. What are the major criticisms of the findings? I thought it was detailed and evidence-based. I'm not aware that there were fundamental flaws - sources please, I'd like to better understand

Is that true? I'm too lazy to check myself, but I don't just want to take one person's meme at face value just because it fits the commonly accepted narrative.

The Affinity suite is pretty good. You can buy once and it's yours forever and you can put it on up to 5 devices 👍

Top right is Tony Hinchcliff the guy made infamous with his appearance at the Trump rally at Madison Square Garden – where he joked that Black people carve watermelons instead of pumpkins at Halloween and called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage”

Conservatism, as a political ideology, prioritises tradition, stability, and gradual change over radical reform. In the US it may be true that conservative governments haven't pushed through meaningful social change, in the UK the Conservatives (big C) decriminalised homosexuality in 1967, and legalised gay marriage in 2013. So while conservatives may be ideologically less likely to make great changes, in some countries they are not wholly incapable of doing the right thing.
