In other words, there are many, many more people from the general population (compared to the specific population, those who committed a specific crime) who the analysis will return a positive.

Going from "most A are B" to "most B are A" results in all sorts of trouble. It's what led too many to go from the 9/11 attacks to targeting muslims. It also can lead to innocent people being convicted on a statistical basis. "Meadow’s Law" has been used to convict women of infanticide, but is based on some very flawed reasoning (assuming two events are statistically independent when they aren't; assuming that the alternate explanation, SIDS, is rarer in the general populace than infanticide).…

They are also are involved with why a dark-skinned mother of a light-skinned child may be assumed to be a nanny, while a dark-skinned father may be assumed to be an abductor.

l still can't find an original for this video (and no longer copies), but it was shot at a zoo in Liaoning, China (according to KameraOne). There are a half dozen or so other videos of ducks evading tigers the same way (often in zoos, such as the Symbio Wildlife Park in Sydney, Australia, or the Montgomery Zoo in Alabama).
