Every time I look at older pictures of american cities it makes me so mad that we destroyed entire city blocks of dense housing and ripped up all the trolley lines. We had some genuinely beautiful places, we had it all figured out. Now we get to sit in traffic and pay $10k a year to drive everywhere.

Damn, it was totally cloudy here in buffalo when that happened. It was still an amazing and surreal experience but to see the horizon change color would have been amazing.
Its so fucking cool that we live on a planet with a moon just large enough and at just the right distance that it perfectly obscures the sun except for its corona. This is such an astronomical anomaly that I don't think we know of any other planets where this happens. Seeing it in person in 2024, even though it was cloudy, was one of the most magical experiences of my entire life.
