Possibly the metal serves to modify resonances in the structure? But your explanation is certainly in-line with today's marketing practices!

Small suggestion: briefly brush your teeth with toothpaste first, but don't rinse out. The slippery toothpaste will lubricate floss.

How can one bust out anything on bookshelf speakers? They're just headphones without the head-band. Need big studio monitors! (eg JBL4350s)
