Actually if you look at the individual frames of the gif he caught the hoof in his left shoulder
Indeed! I cut the scarf on the bandsaw and made a sanding sled at the 5 degree angle on my table saw and sanded the two pieces to fit.

Yeah I’m using hard maple for each of them! The fretboards are also maple. I just died the maple on the Apostle to look like rosewood.
