I always need more to read! I am interested, but can't message you (apparently I lurk too much).

Takes time and resources away from criminal matters. I really do agree with the basis of defunding and hope money is allocated where needed.

I totally agree, I think that is needed. Accessible housing for mental health problems is greatly needed and would help deter calls as well.

Exactly, the more competent and confident officers are in their skills, the more they can use their frontal cortex to make critical decision
Which then requires overtime to be paid if they do it outside of normal hours. There's just minimum patrol staffing that has to be held.
Every cop I've met wants more training, it's a lack of funding which prevents this. It takes a lot of staffing from patrol to do training 1
This helps deter those types from just getting hired at a smaller agency.
Or security. Not all the time though, in Oregon applicants sign waivers so agencies can tell each other why they were fired or didn't pass 1

Every state is different, Oregon has a required amount of hours for basic and every year after that. I have a degree in psychology 1...
As another cop, absolutely. I'm only 2 years in, but I'd light myself on fire for the truth and speaking up for what's right.
All states are different, but Oregon does. Where I'm at we train medical (plus everything else) everything 4x a year.
Some do this, just depends where you're at and how large the department is.

For real, they would have to land the damn plane before I put anything living into the overhead cabins.
In the article it stated the attendant insisted the dog go into the overhead cabin halfway through the flight.
