I think this viewpoint, while not inaccurate, ignores the massive voter suppression and gerrymandering that exist specifically to make it nearly impossible for people to participate. Let's say you live in the SE, they've reduced the number of polling locations to the point that people spend HOURS in line. And have to find a way to get there because now it's a 30-60 min drive. So, yes, people need to show up. But you're ignoring how hard they've made it for people to show up.
I agree that anyone with a gun in those situations is probably getting shot, with cause. But I stand by what I say about cop training. I've lived in small towns & big cities across the US. Also lived & traveled abroad. Most police are over funded & under trained, get money & equipment to fight "terrorism" or "illegal immigration", & free money from drug seizures. They spend it on equipment & not education. Most localities don't even require continuing education, like for teachers or healthcare.

Like, maybe you realize "ohhh, I don't have to keep my ties pre-tied anymore because I know how to do that now". But also the guy sounds young and doesn't know that he's his own dad now
If police had real training and education, like in most functional countries, that's less of an issue. Police in the US are barely trained in deescalation techniques, let alone the actual laws the supposedly enforce

Most homeschoolers I've met (who aren't nutso religious homeschoolers) actually put a lot of work into giving a good education. If your kids are bullied or neurodivergent or you live in a shitty education area it's likely better. And they're less likely to kill themselves
