A change in the demand curve *caused* by perceived scarcity. There were plenty of supplies that people were stocking up for at the start (c)
more than they needed in case it was out of stock later- but thats a far cry from deliberately dumping stock to sell the rest for more
Definitely not as a planned long term strategy. We did see a perceived shortage of, for example, toilet paper leading to people purchasing -
perspective from which they're impossibly more powerful than anyone else- which is conveniently discarded when the next author cares less
The thing with superheroes, especially long lived ones, over time so many writers give them so many power levels so there's always a (c)
