I was initially taught to keep spare clippings of heavier monofilament string to tie the knot of a new string around to keep it from coming through the soundboard for this reason! It's a tip I always spread around since the thin strings are always such a pain to restring without them.
Essentially, yes. The pedal harp mechanism is a very complex network of moving parts that need somewhat regular maintenance. Pedal harps are also huge, heavy, and need to be built to withstand the high and constant string tension they're under. There are lots of reasons I never wanted a pedal harp myself but cost and space are the big ones!
String breakage for metal and nylon strings is rather rare when the metal contacts are properly smoothed. But you take a replacement string of a specific composition and thickness that the harp maker supplies in a string chart, cut a piece with extra clearance for winding around the peg. The holes in the back of the harp are for string access. Tie a knot around a small clipping of string and thread that through the back of the harp and bring it up to the tuning peg to be wound 5+ times to tune.
Performance anxiety is a thing, even for faceless folks like me . _.

The same phenomenon happens with your kitchen sponge. When very dry it repels running water for a good bit while a damp one readily absorbs.
My computer is too crap to actually play games but I still want the games to eventually try when I can afford the upgrade . _.

I had to convert from desktop - > laptop for work and was pleasantly surprised that laptop GPUs can actually push out nice HD/QHD GFX now.
It's relative. Gaming laptops have always been pricey but there's hardly value in buying overpriced, worn out desktop GPUs in these times./1
This is why I got a gaming laptop. Scoff if you will but their prices are at least stable and quality has advanced a lot in the last 10yrs.

It is beneficial but I will only do it with a low foam paste or gel made for this in mind. Regular toothpaste is way too foamy to not rinse.
