I still have my Coleman Lantern from my childhood. I was never able to pump the tank sufficiently enough to make it work. Pop had to always do it for me. I didn't use Coleman Fuel, either, just good ol' kerosene. It was bright enough to severely damage your eyes if you made the mistake of staring into it for more than 1-2 seconds
