It's solid walnut with maple kumiko panels and brass hardware
It's a custom design
The milled lumber for the case
All the parts
Halfblind dovetails secure the top of the case
I do all my joinery by hand. This is a mortise after I've drilled with a brace and bit, I square it up with my chisel.
The bottom before shaping
Preparing for final construction.
The waxed shelves.
Really proud of the piece.
And I just launched a website with some other pieces: www.orhanwoodwork.com
Also, here is my instagram: https://www.instagram.com/orhanwoodwork/
FP edit: WOW imgur's response to my work has been so incredibly generous, especially considering how many other woodworkers even more talented than me are on here.
I'm trying to respond to all questions as they come in but I'm a little inundated so it might take a bit.
A lot of people are asking if I take commissions/deliver/have anything for sale. I do take commissions. I'm based in Kansas City (a fact I should have put on my website) and will deliver within four hours for a small fee or within an hour of downtown kc for free. If you want something outside of this radius I'll have to do crated shipping which is kind of expensive.
Thank you so much for all of your incredible support. I'm so glad you all appreciate craftsmanship and hope that those of you wanting to try it do because it's been life changing for me.

Congrats on having the financial security to take a risk like that. Your work is beautiful.

I got laid off, now my entire day is filled with "wood working".
braggadocious
I think you need some inventory

One time I put together a Target bookcase and only had 4 leftover pieces. That’s like the same thing, right?
GaurieBanner

Check around for local shared shops/makerspaces! That's what I did. Ours is a non-profit guild so its very cheap

I feel like we missed some steps on the construction of the door design...
JohnBrownJovi
Haha I forgot to take pictures unfortunately but I won't make that mistake again!
bfreeze01
Really cool design work though. Looks great!
likuidlightning
And what ridiculous but completely justified price would you want for that?
JohnBrownJovi
This was 4,000 dollars. I asked some older woodworkers I know and they recommended 6,000 but that seemed to high for apprentice level work.
enferno8
Imo, judging by the craftsmanship and hours, that is a reasonable rate. 6k does seem a little steep.
zestymexican
Beautiful work there. People with informed tastes will surely appreciate the craftsmanship and pay accordingly. The trick is in finding them
JohnBrownJovi
I agree. Word of mouth works for me so far, but I'm a small one-person operation
zestymexican
I wish you all the best. You’ve already succeeded by being brave enough to try. Well done!

Will you do a piece for me for the exposure? I’m going to take a bath with my toaster while I wait for your answer.
