210 swedish kroner isn't much! we do give discounts when customers buy a lot of stuff or if we know the customer. but this just makes me mad!

we are 4 girls working at this place. I'm not the boss but i'm ranked 2nd and people (especially men) don't believe us when we say that we are just girls here, because it is a very male dominated job.

sometimes we get new stuff in that i haven't heard about before. i try to look up information about it but people get so mad when i can't give them answers!

if you do this, you're a jerk. it's so annoying to cut a new fish just because you want a slice or two!

We have a lot of old customers whom think they know everything.

edit: wow thanks guys! i have a lot more which i'll gladly upload! you're all awesome and now i'll grab something to drink and if anybody wants we can all Skype and drink yeah! drinking party for people who're staying at home!

Some things you may not want to try, either. Fortunately, the people who ask for those already know. Btw, thanks! I'm a commercial fisher!

#3 Why do customers think we get paid to eat everything we sell?!

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

have the same problem in the wine shop - lady there are hundreds of wines here, how much of an alcoholic do you think I am?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Old people and retail, a match made in Hell.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

But when those old people are WORKING in retail, oh the sass!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You get upset when they want to see the boss and you're not the boss? Also some people want fresh fish

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

it's not that. what i meant is the customer is expecting a man. not a female, especially not as young as me to come and answer the question.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

FUUUCK customers. It should be legal for retail people to punch customers in the teeth.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Bit fishy this post

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

I see what you did there

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had a good one yesterday. Asked for a 15%-20% discount (we don't give that much unless you are a large commercial account). 1/

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Claimed he bought a lot from us. I have a quick ref for customer sales. Came up zero across the board for the past two years. 2/

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He bought the vehicle from the USA and wanted US specific parts that I'm not allowed to order because we are a Canadian dealer 3/

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He came in with a handful of price quotes from a discount online shop based in the USA that will charge him exorbitant shipping and duty 4/

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wandered off to humour him, told the owner I knew he wouldn't buy but just look like we were negotiating. 5/

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

With a laugh he said give him 10% if he buys right now, deal is off tomorrow. Customer asks for a copy of the quote with part numbers. 6/

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh you forgot a big one, customer: " these don't look fresh, can you go in the back wanna get me some that are fresher" 1/

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Had just put out fish, " I actually just our these out, the stuff in the back looks the same", them "i still would prefer that" 2/

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Gets fish for customer, customer either acts like it looks better or says same thing about " newer" fish.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a manager with a very well-trained staff, if a client gets to me, 9 times out of 9.5, they're wrong.

11 years ago | Likes 159 Dislikes 1

~94.736842105% of the time. Yes, all the digits were necessary.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

What happens the last 0.5 time?

11 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Rock paper scissors over who is right

11 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Given the locale, I always throw fish.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

hem: "I'm looking for a fish... it was silver, with pink meat. You must know it!" Me: "...Well yes, I suppose I do, but the problem is..."

11 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 7

"...I tried your wife last night and I don't sell used goods" badum-tish

11 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He wants to talk to salmon.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I stopped working in customer service because id eventually leap over the counter and smack comon sense into people

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I feel you. I'm struggling to keep a straight face when handling customers. Done in June, looking forward to it.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*who

11 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Mm. Relative clause gets a new subject.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i don't know the difference, a comment earlier said it was a proper use of it. english is my second language.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Peasant, english is my third and by no means is suporior, just a dick from the internet.. Also engliah isn't diffucult if know Scandinavia!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

english classes don't teach much about the difference of who and whom, at least not where i live. i was wrong sorry, get over it

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Also, are you hot?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

yes. very.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm over it

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A good rule of thumb is: whenever in doubt, use "who". These days, it's pretty much always acceptable to use "who" in place of "whom".

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

oh, well okay then

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Whom" is dying out. If you use it, you better be damn sure you're using it right.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've alreay apologised for The use Of it

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you can replace it with "he," use "who." If you can replace it with "him," use "whom."

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i shall

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The more I read of this kind of stuff, the more determined I get that I'd rather be poor than work in retail of any kind.

11 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 4

the third one is not even so strange, know what you sell is equal as important as knowing what you buy

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Yeah but depending on where you work you can't know everything about everything you sell. I just sell the shit I'm not an expert.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Why choose between being poor and working retail, when you can do both full time?

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Working in retail is no way to avoid being poor.

11 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

As opposed to being in retail AND being poor? I'd take that too.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

''the customer is always right''. no.. no..

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

They are always wrong, but treat em as if they're right.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

They are always wrong and should be bludgeoned to death with a shopping cart.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

nope not even that, well not always at least. i correct them.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

You'll become a better person if you spend some time in retail. You'll learn a lot about respecting others.

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

or you will learn hate the entire species and become the second coming of hitler.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And self-control. So much self-control.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

#4 deal with it. I worked deli and I will ALWAYS ask for a fresh slice because the pre-cut slices couldve been there for a long time

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 7

I worked in a deli too. I would have a people watch me cut for the person in front of them and still argue. Nope, nope. Sorry. Gtfo.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

IIf theyd argue when they can see you cutting it then yes, they can go fuck a cactus

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That's like having a whole rib roast cut specially because you want a single steak. There are whole fish (purchase one) or cut slices.1/

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I dont make them do it, if they decline Ill say "ok." and go somewhere else.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You want higher prices for your waste? THIS is how you get higher prices.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

it's always fresh, can guarantee. it's just a waste of fish for other people. i don't like to waste food.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

A lot of people in this world trust their eyes more than their salesman(or woman)'s mouth, if wasting bothers you so much minimize precuts

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And I always guaranteed the exact same thing and was always annoyed when people did it, yet I pay for what I want. Dickmove? Probably

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

You're being a super dick, as you know the pain, yet you still do it anyway. Especially if it's a busy deli.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Again, I pay for produce and deli's are expensive over here. When I buy luxury I want to get the best, not possible second rate

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it's up to you. i don't like to waste good food for one person

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

Neither do I

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

What does this taste like? Fish ma'm, it tastes like fish...

11 years ago | Likes 308 Dislikes 7

This whole post doesn't even graze the surface of how rude people are to fishmongers. "If you don't cut exactly .4 lb I will not take it."

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I've had customers ask me this when I waitressed. I'm allergic to seafood. Some got mad that I didn't know what the fish tasted like, 1/2

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

no offense, but just because you're allergic, doesn't mean you can't try to explain it. Cod - mild & flaky. Swordfish - meaty & oily.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I did not work in a high end restaurant. We had cod, whitefish, cod, salmon, and cod.I can tell them I sell a lot, or it's a customer fav...

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

or, grab someone that has a better grasp to explain it for you.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Usually I'll offer to ask another waitress, but when you get mad at me for not tasting something that'll kill me, you're kind of an asshole.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I finally got fed up and told them it tastes like anaphylaxis. Fuckin' idiots, man. 2/2

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

"Well, it's fishy, but not FISHY."

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I once asked the personnel at a restaurant what a certain meal contained, which she replied "Meat." Alrighty then.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

where is this fish from? the sea sir, it's form the sea

11 years ago | Likes 148 Dislikes 2

As a girl working in a fish place I can relate to this post. Also it could be from a river. :D

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

jokes aside, I agree that when you sell food you should know how it tastes and also have a little idea what and how to cook it.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ofc. but sometimes we get stuff that we haven't asked for. and i can't taste it at work if it's fish.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The salmon tree.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Next to the sardine's bush

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

eh, fish can taste different, like I love a nice Salmon, but tuna in any form is nasty to me

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's when you take a bite from the raw fish and establish firm eye contact.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Sir, That is a lobster" 10/10 would LOL again. +1

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

The name crayfish in NZ refers to a rock lobster... just saying...

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it is also Australian rock lobster, it is the name of a general type we have down this side of the planet

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

happens way too often haha

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sometimes it is polite and appropriate to just say GTFO. Every boss should support this because there are customers you can really set aside

11 years ago | Likes 572 Dislikes 6

Polite to say GTFO.... kay

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

"It seems we will be unable to meet your exacting standards, I suggest you shop elsewhere."

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

isn't this a heated discussion currently?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Word.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had a boss tell me "No customer's business is worth the abuse of my employees." I miss working for that dude, he was cool.

11 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 0

that dude sounds like a cool boss

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

No one wants to own "that store where they tell you to go fuck yourself".

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At a hotel in Germany, the clerk says to the man in front of me in clipped English: "Sir, my manager tells me to say, do not come back."

11 years ago | Likes 88 Dislikes 0

I wanted to high-five the man.

11 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

We always had people demand huge refunds or they'd never come back. If you cost us tons of money, why do we want you as a customer?

11 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

I disagree. One person is paying to be there, and one is being paid to be there. The boss can make the decision to send them away, not you.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

i agree completely.

11 years ago | Likes 137 Dislikes 1

i thought sweden was more progressed and didn't have the gender inequality the US has..

11 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 2

it's not often it happens, and when it does, it's seniors who says it, especially males. the younger generations don't think about it :)

11 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

It's indeed very rare, and such people are seen as complete outcasts. Swedes generally value social equality very much.

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Completely true. As a US expat in Sweden, it makes me happy how little anyone cares if you're HGBT or a minority, most of the time. :)

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You give discounts so what's wrong with asking? Also what's wrong with wanting a specific fish? Or wanting you to know what you're selling?

11 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 16

Because a whole fish is more valuable than the sum of its slices. What happens if the next person wants 3lb fillet, and biggest slice is 2lb

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it's about being polite about it silly.

11 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 13

i hate the customer who wants to buy more but not pay for it. "can you just give me a *little bit*??"

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

right

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I hear what you're saying but I just dont think these are "that" bad. You work in a customer facing job. This comes as part of the territory

11 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 10

That doesn't mean it should. Fairly tame, yes, but there's really no excuse for being an asshole.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well yeah, I agree and the same could be said about my job, but everyone needs to vent and sometimes funny stories come about

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

trust me, i'm awake of that. but just as you have problems and annoying things at your job, so do i

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 9

should have just given a 2% discount imo

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 14

As a kiwi who just woke up... crayfish ARE rock lobsters in NZ. So you would think all these kiwis are morons when really it's semantics

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sorry, but I ask for fresh slices of meat from the deli. I don't want the pre-sliced shit that has been sitting there all day. Tastes icky.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

You're the problem. How is it icky. Whats the difference between sitting in your fridge and our fridge. Please. It's an hour or two old.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I agree with you 100%. Every other person that walks in assumes that meat is somehow not fresh unless it is cut in front of their eyes

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's hardened on the edges and has a weird slime about it. Is it really that inconvenient? Isn't that kinda... part of the job description?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No. But when we're busy with 30 people waiting, it's kind of nice. If it's icky, I understand then. I would never try to sell icky products.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is less of an inconvenience and more just irritating when people automatically assume it is icky unless it was cut 2 seconds ago

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If it's not sliced the way you like it, thats a different story though. If you don't like the way it was sliced, then I would be happy to(1/

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Slice it your way.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Exactly! If I wanted pre sliced, I'd go to a supermarket. My local butchers did this with bacon and I walked out. I want thick bacon !!!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You and the joint master guy right above you tripped me out for a second there. High identical comments and all.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah frankly their customer service sounds terrible. Can't tell you about the product, won't do made to order selections, etc.

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 7

Exactly my thought.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Yeah, I was wondering if their lack of knowledge about the product sounded fishy (heh) to anyone else. Isn't it normal to prep w/ research?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haha jobbar i en bod inte långt ifrån Göteborg serru :)

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's not true. I know several people who work at a crematory and people aren't always the problem.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At #1 it kinda annoys me that bargaining for discounts etc is frowned upon so much these days love going abroad where it is common

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 8

You should call into my job then. I think we are the only retail store to still do it.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The big thing is that we cannot haggle with you, the boss sets the prices, or the boss's boss. If I give you a discount I am STEALING.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

THIS. free for the customer is not free for the business.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haggling is a pain in the butt. Especially in like consumer electronics where there's no margin anyway.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Thats the main reason why haggling has died out in the west. Profit margins are none existent

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

More accurately, almost all profits go to the company brands vs the actual stores.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nah. I, for one, hate haggling, tipping and bribing.

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Tipping and bribing are very different to hagging though as it all relies on your personality / charm. Tipping / bribing is extortion

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

we don't so that where i live, i give discounts to people who are worth it.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

People who are worth it defined as who?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

people who are not rude and buy for a lot of money.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I work at best buy, and people try to haggle all the time. "This is $200? I'll give $150"... No.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Well I'll just ask YOUR MANAGER! (As a Black Tie Guy, I feel those pains.)

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

WELL I GUESS I'LL BUY THIS SOMEWHERE ELSE THEN. Alright, cool. Bye.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

AND IF IT BREAKS, I'LL BRING IT TO YOU TO FIX BECAUSE YOU SHOULD STAND BEHIND YOUR PRODUCT!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For anyone wondering, 210 Swedish Kroner is about 25.50 Azerbaijani Manat

11 years ago | Likes 3932 Dislikes 11

Mildly interesting.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How much is that in sestertii or liberty dollars?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or 210 Norwegian kroner

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

actually came back and scrolled down because I wanted to know, thank god it was in a currency i understand

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you.

11 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 1

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What is the Kroner to Quatloo conversion rate these days?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

0.03 SEK to the Quatloo, good sir.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Okay, but how much is it in real people money?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, but how many Yen is that?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can confirm. I am Azerbaijani (or whatever it is you call us cos its actually Azeri in short) ;)

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

*Azerbaycan Türk'ü.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Around ¥2900

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

+1 for Shadowrun reference.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

While that is the symbol for Nuyen, it is also the present-day symbol for Japanese Yen. Not sure if it was a Shadowrun reference or not.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know, I'm saying I'm not sure if ChimneyImps was intending to make a Shadowrun reference or if he was talking about Yen.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What's funny is that this is a useful conversion because the exchange rate from Nanat to Euro is almost 1:1

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

KRONOR! Kroner is Danish or Norwegian money.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Sounds klingon - but then again the only swedish word I know is slut station...

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It is actually slutstation and not slut station.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

thx

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Speed=Fart in Swedish. Now you know two!

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

thx dude!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's also about 0.3 in camels.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I totally needed to know that.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well that's a relief

11 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it's kind of ironic. the north korean won is worth ~20 cents more per dollar than south korean won, but their economy is so much worse.

Diamonds are also worth a lot, because they're rare outside their heavily-guarded containment facilities.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Tacking zeroes onto the end doesn't make a currency weaker. It's the rate of change that matters.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

RIP Zimbabwe

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

can someone explain why NK won is worth more?

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I don't really know, but I do know having your currency valued low makes exports easier & SK's economy relies on export. Might be part of it

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

South Korea is false Korea.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because North Korea won.

google says 1:900 and 1:1085 dollar to NK and SK won respectively. so 1000 NK won will get you more dollar than 1000 SK won.
