We started eating meat as scavengers while plant food source grew scarce, but we soon moved on to tools, which made hunting possible
We started seeing shorter GI tracts in the homo genus with Homo Erectus, it’s been rather consistent since then

But just because we don’t digest it super well doesn’t mean that it’s bad.
It’s not necessarily that we do it poorly, we’ve just evolved shorter GI tracts, now allowing as much time for plant digestion.
I did my senior thesis on this. We definitely evolved to hunt and eat meat. But it’s no longer *necessary*
Leaving toxicity can be so hard. Good on you! No one deserves to be abused mentally or physically.
