I will open the door for a lady. I will open the door for a gentleman. I will especially open the door for anyone who, for whatever reason (wheelchair, arms full…) would have difficulty doing so. I include small children, dogs, and cats in that last category.I call this “being polite”.The “ladylike” way to climb into a car doesn’t sit well with me. Do it however you like. And eat with whichever fork you prefer. It’s not 1922.
There’s an outfit called Timeless Foundry that makes graphite coin molds for casting. Single and double-sided. Not cheap tho.
My mom used to take the pits out first.
Cheaply? A couple skids made out of treated 4x4 or 4x6s to get it off the ground. Properly? A poured concrete base with anchor bolts and an apron out front. It’s not going to stop the neighbor either way.

My sister’s place has hundreds of striped bark scorpions around all the buildings, stored rock and wood, in the landscaping…. Fun to go out with the UV light at night and look around.

Out on wildfire patrol one evening. Hot and dry, burn ban in place. See a camper with flickering orange light all around. Sigh. Stop to check. Highway worker with his little girl. Sitting by a “campfire” consisting of a fire pit full of blinking orange road construction lights.
Fishing sinkers here.

I was up there last month. More flies than moose, and there were a lot of moose.
Just an FYI. It’s illegal to possess feathers from most birds in the US. Even if you picked it up off the ground. https://www.fws.gov/lab/featheratlas/feathers-law.html

There’s a guy I used to watch who digs bottles out of old outhouse pits. But every week it’s “the find of a lifetime” or some such. Got real old real fast. Life’s too short.
I was a biochem major many years ago. And a math tutor. Took every required math class in my program. Turned out that was nowhere near what was actually required for some of the physical chemistry/quantum mechanics work. By about two partial differential equations courses. Felt sorry for my classmates that didn’t have the math skills. Passed the classes, got a career doing something else, never again needed to do any of that math.
No idea how many I have blocked. Repost bots, serial dog show moms, liaden cat people, nazis, selfie hos…
That’s not an upland sandpiper. They don’t have the giant yellow eye and aren’t particularly tame.
My brain is saying a thick-knee.

It is a term used to describe the connection points of many linear multipiece objects. Other examples include fishing rods and tent poles.
Kept a case of those in the work truck. Every four or five years I’d replace it. Never needed to open one. Not even that one time I got stranded in the woods for nine days.
