I've found that the hobby solution that requires social contact and getting out of the house is the best solution. D&D is my poison.

It typically is more cost effective to rehabilitate than to piss away time,materials, and morale (we'd rather you die) isnt good PR
Training, skill, experience, and instinct are expensive to build up, if the survivors are capable of being redeployed afterwards.
