I mean not to be that person... but "if someone shows an amount of skin then they want us to look at it" is probably the very thought process being criticized. The book itself wasn't even banned, the copyright holders (the state of Bayern) prohibited all German reprints. Owning and selling pre-1945 copies has always been legal though, and still is to my knowledge. The full text has since become public domain, which is why it has been outlawed to reprint the work unabridged and unaltered. Critical editions with annotations are permitted though and the latest is from 2020, I think.

Not OP so not speaking for them, but some may not want to change their legal status for whichever reasons, or don't want the full sharing of rights/responsibilities that comes with marriage. I personally don't like the cultural baggage attached to marriage, and am very "meh" about becoming a joint household, but still would like visitation rights etc.

I wouldn't say I have an identity crisis over it. But the way I talk and act around my artsy and mature friends vs how I sound when playing online games with my buddies is... rather different, yes. It's basically different cultures and social norms across communities, and people from one might be weirded out by the other, so my demeanor kinda changes depending who I talk to.

Honestly, as someone born in '90 who grew up in a small town, it did kinda suck. You were stuck with the local kids, so if no one shared your interests or you were bullied? Tough shit, not much point in going to play outside by yourself, so enjoy re-reading the same 10 books over and over. By and large it was pretty damn boring, and I don't miss those times.

I've seen plenty of people who *believe* they are constantly being slighted and mistreated, and then complain that their assholery is not being taken well when they "only do the same thing back". At this point I'm not trusting anyone who fuels the flames rather than leave the burning house, so to speak.

It may be blasphemy to say this, but I (woman) honestly think certain styles of dresses + skirts just look frumpy with pockets on them, and whatever you put in there would look like a weird growth. If I absolutely need to carry something, and I can't even bring a small bag - chances are, pants are better suited to that occasion anyway. So unless we're talking about pants, pockets are kinda overrated imo.
It also leaves out that there is also *bad* science - studies funded by third parties, researchers with their own biases, eminent authorities in fields who don't like being questioned and so on and so forth. Never mind that popular reporting may distort findings further. I really like science but I greatly dislike how some try to make it into the secular man's religion where it's always correct and provides easy answers.
No, no one ever is "too broken" to not be physically violent towards their family, an obsessive stalker, and such like. If they are aware of having that potential to hurt someone and don't contain it, either because they don't care or think "why should I treat the world better than it treated me" - fuck them. That is a choice, and they don't deserve my sympathy.
Well, my takeaway from it is that people are not helplessly formed by their past, it's their own effort that made them into a good person despite whatever have happened. But then the same should be true for the other side of the coin - someone being an asshole also had a choice, and it's not just a matter of "trauma made them that".
Corollary: this also means that a traumatic background is not a free pass to inflict abuse on others, because you do have the choice of being kind despite your trauma. I've never once thought that my experiences would entitle me to spread misery among others, and I reserve the right to not make excuses for people who believe so.
Also 100% certain a dude wrote that - don't know of any woman who ever referred to women as a whole as "females". Especially not in conjunction with sexual themes, that combination's immediately sus to me.
