If you want someone who works purely out of loyalty, hire a dog.
There's people I know from the dog park I've genuinely not recognized without their dog. Like, looked them right in the eyes, had no idea who they were. But I know their dog's favourite toy, how old it is, sometimes where it lives, its walk schedule and how likely we are to run into it, how it plays with my boys and if it likes one better than the other, which of the other dogs it does or doesn't get along with, and so on.

Honestly, given the way things are going in the world, fucking microplastics in all our brains, and how everything increases your risk of cancer somewhat, I just kinda take a harm reduction view instead of a harm elimination one. I like cannabis, I largely switched to it from alcohol, because between the two alcohol is linked to more problems and I like how weed feels better. The healthiest option would be to use neither, but realistically I'm not going to do that, so take the lesser evil.

Same. As a teen, I still leaned left (probably thanks to being gay in the 2000s giving me some empathy for others), but was still pretty hard-line on stuff. Tee-totaler, criminals need punishing, etc. Now at 37 and comfortable, I love me a little weed, I had started drinking regularly but rarely now, own a home but want housing prices to drop a lot, fuck oil, save the forest, Indigenous people aren't making the problems up, maybe don't do meth but you're not inherently a bad person if you do.

With respect, that's not what "safe word" means in this context. Consensual non-consent is a thing, and some people are into things where they'll reflexively say something like "no" but not actually mean it. Which is on them to know, and communicate that beforehand, which is why you have a "safe word" that can't be mistaken for anything else. No one is going to say "marmot" in the middle of sex by accident, which is why something like that is a good choice.He did do the right thing, though.

Hard to explain it exactly, but if you've ever seen the video of a golden retriever just going about the yard, exploring things, while the Parks and Rec theme plays, it kinda feels like that.
Just as an anecdote, I was googling a toothpaste I bought, because the water here isn't fluoridated so I wanted toothpaste with a reasonably high amount. I got one, which had two varieties of fluoride in it, and I was curious what each one does, if they're synergistic somehow, and so on, so I did a search for it. The AI summary that popped up with it told me that particular toothpaste doesn't exist, as I was holding the bottle in my hand.
This is true for a lot of car problems, too. I had a wiper motor fail a little while back, brought it in to be diagnosed, and between parts and labour they wanted a bit over $500 CAD to fix it. Out of curiosity, I looked for a tutorial on how to change it, and how much the part was.I could get the part for under $200, and it was literally three bolts and one easy to connect plug. It took me 10 minutes. I'm not capable of rebuilding an engine or anything, but not everything is THAT complicated.
The video is a joke, not real. The whole point is for it to be absurb, but have just enough reality to it (old attitudes to weed + everyone in the 80s seemingly being a chainsmoker) to make you not quite sure it's fake.

Huskies are great dogs, for the right people. Too many people hear "high energy" and think of a golden retriever or a labrador when they want to play fetch, and that's not right. You can get that, too, but it's more the fact that in order for me to have a "calm" husky, we walk a minimum of 10km per day, do multiple puzzles, have playtime, and he gets nearly-unlimited outside time with his brother. And he's still a bossy little shit, who will absolutely get himself in trouble sometimes.

I was still not prepared for the first time my sweet, obedient, OH SO SMART little boy visibly heard me and decided, "No," when asked to do something he'd done perfectly before.This same boy learned to open zippers by himself when we were camping and he decided he wanted to see what that weird noise was in the dark.

Vermont was the "bluest" state in the last election, and 1/3 of the votes still went to Trump. Every single other state was redder than that. The one that DID bite me unprovoked was a golden retriever we'd briefly adopted when he was already an adult dog. But, the dog they'd gotten me as a companion when I was a baby was also a golden, and SHE went absolutely feral defending me when he did that, so I never developed any fear of them, thankfully.

I just ASSUME it's not in the US, for most people at least.I did quickly check, and apparently our province DOES cover it if it's for documented medical reasons, so chances are she didn't have to pay anything if she was having back problems and the like. And I learned you don't actually need to be 18 yet, as long as you're done growing, so she may just have elected to graduate first so she didn't need to deal with that as well.
Her family owned/owns a reasonably successful vinyard, so I imagine that helped with affording it, haha. Though I wonder if it'd be covered here, since at that point I think it probably counts as a legitimate quality-of-life concern and not just cosmetic. I never thought to look into it, or ask.
