I’m sorry. Like 2 years ago I started to explore the possibility that my dad is doing the same, but as a slow burner. There’s nothing I can do, but to be there for my younger siblings when the time comes, I suppose.
Sending hugs to all of us sharing a somewhat similar bad dad fate. Ever since I became a dad myself, my healing journey picked up speed. I’m more forgiving but also now know how fucked up some things really were, seeing it from a parent‘s perspective. There won’t be any peace between me and him, but I’ll be the one with a healthy masculinity and act like it, if he ever is able to drop his toxic one.
