Imagine having such a cushy job that even a 2 month long 'no call, no show' won't get you fired.
I once had a cat that would plop down anywhere to sleep. Here's a pic of him laying his head down on some minifigures practically curling up with them.
'Months' is not 'Years' so it seems like a recent thing happened instead of a long slow build of changes between either of you. No counseling, no discussion, just a surprise "I'm done with you AND the kids" is not normal. She may have met (or is being swindled by) someone, or might be going through some kind of mid-life crisis. You may not be able the change the situation, but getting the real story may help your peace of mind.
I really hate how low this country has fallen in recent years.
He was a really great actor and I enjoyed pretty much every role he played. He seemed like a decent person too. He will be missed :(
The erosion of freedom often starts small because it's easy and may go by mostly unnoticed to those not paying attention. Or it's disregarded with a sense of apathy: "Who cares? It's just a few books. It doesn't affect me." As more freedoms get chipped away, the easier it is for them to justify their actions towards bigger and more important things. Our system seems far too broken too continue as it has. The people who do good have too much working against them.
I didn't think about wireless advancement in tech. My friends and I always used extra long or extension cords for everything and would pull the console out onto the floor quite a ways so everyone had tons of 'wiggle' room. I think I would get yelled at for the smallest thing by my Boomer mom so sitting still was probably more of a learned behavior.
My friends and I back in the day (pre-2000) were able to play video games and sit reasonably still outside of minor arm movements which were usually in driving games. I find it funny that all the kids I know now (like those of my friends) are the opposite. They jump around and swing their arms like they have ants in their pants, or can't seem to play unless they are standing directly in front of the TV. Am I the only older person who has witnessed this?

It really sucks when a pet dies. They never live long enough. I'm 50 and at any given time have almost always had at least 2 cats. I had one of my previous cats put down at home after a not so great vet experience with his sister the prior year. It was not easy seeing him try to crawl away to hide after the first injection (of anesthetic). I may have 2 new kittens now, but I still really miss those two (and all the others) I had before them.
I held in anger over the years about my abusive mother and it was very toxic to me. I was able to heal much easier once I let it go. I was long past that by the time she had died but it still felt like another level of release when her time came. When it comes to Trump, his followers, and those responsible for the problems we have in this country we need the kind of healing that comes from justice and change.
I look back at life (and movies) from the '90's and earlier and think about how easy it was to just walk away from everything and everyone. You could easily stay hidden and create a new life and most people would never be able to find you. You have to fall pretty much 100% off the grid which is almost impossible if you want to live a life even partially in the modern world. We have advanced a lot technology-wise, but not all are in the right ways.
I only keep 2 original tech boxes but for good reasons. I will probably move in the next 4 or so years so transporting the TV in the original box & styrofoam packing adds a major piece of mind. I keep my work laptop box so when I leave the company it can be shipped all nice and neat. Shipping boxes are another story because you never know when those will come in handy. Especially the nice double walled kind. Nice and sturdy those are.
Zuppa is my fav! The bits of sausage, kale and potatoes make it soooo good.
I loved Kid Icarus back in the day but Game Genie made it far less frustrating
I am "Free ticket in a can of coke" years old and remember when the parks were called Great America (pre Six Flags buyout). Never been to any other Six Flag parks than the one near me in the Chicago area, and that was maybe 20 years ago. I don't have kids but maybe I should try going back and see if it still holds up.
My favorite games were Slot Racers and there was a (mostly?) 2 player tank game where you could have bouncy bullets. Hmm, now that I think of it, I was young and liked so many of the games. Except E.T. and their version of Pac-Man

Looks like a modern day version of a M.U.S.C.L.E. figure from the '80s. It's weird, silly, stuck in one color and one pose.
When I was a kid I could write and do pretty much everything equally (or equally bad) with both hands. My mother made me choose one dominant hand because as she said "using both causes issues with your brain". She never did give me a solid reason. She then heavily implied that being left handed was weird and the whole world is right handed. I became right handed but can still do most things with both just as easily.
They are moving some parts of their body, but not the other parts. Must have studied the same class at mime college.
I'm GenX with Boomer parents. Too many people no mater the generation just suck as parents and as people. I had to 'stick it out' through a few different reasons and poverty wasn't it. I decided not to have children because of my genetics and parents, mother especially. The only way my past dictated my life was to guarantee that the cycle stops 100%. Just because someone can have kids does not mean they should.
I saw that you can't keep him. Do you live around the Chicago area? I know someone who would take great care of him. Me.
This gave me a flashback of the late 90's when I worked at the one hour photo inside one of the big box stores. We were always goofing off. Digital cameras weren't mainstream or decent yet. All of us goofed off. Sometimes after disassembling the disposable cameras we set the flash's charge and sneak up and press the proper contacts against exposed skin and shock them. (Never face or neck; we were serious about safety, haha). Everyone lived for those breaks in the monotony, even our boss.
Don't feel bad about being scammed because they've got decades of experience. Once they get you past the 1st hurdle of believability, yellow or red flags become easier to gloss over. I fell for buying collectibles at a fake website in 2017. The legit website looked like it was made from site builder software that was popular back then. The fake site altered the original just enough that I missed a few tiny red flags. Plus the deals were just above the 'too good to be true' warning.
Yeah, crippling ADHD has made holding down any job extremely difficult for me. I have to put so much effort to keep my mind straight and properly focused that I am to worn out before the work day is even over, let alone for everything else going on in life.
The truth about this guy was already out for a while but regardless, this guy does a hard Nazi salute twice on live TV, AND at an official government function. Not a single Republican spoke against it, which indicates their approval. By extension anyone after who bought or leased a Tesla or continued to stay R also indicates their approval of Nazi followers. This one instance reveals just how truly awful 1/3 of our citizens are.
As a GenX guy (born in '75), it was pretty obvious that most people in control sucked. But as we eased into the 90's things starting feeling more positive than negative. It was far from perfect, but the world mostly seemed to be getting it's shit together. Then direct catalysts like 9/11, dotcom & housing crash, and rich assholes grabbing more power accelerated some of the worst possible outcomes. I have little trust in humanity to fix things before it is too late.
Every culture is different, but sometimes a quality comes forth that is highly admirable. This kind of attitude is where the Japanese really shine. I wish more people had this kind of respect for their surroundings like this.
