I'm uncomfortable with demonizing someone for this. In my opinion, peder*asts* are unforgivable, but pedo*philes* just need to stay away from kids. Yeah, it disgusts me too, but you can't help what you find attractive, so long as *you do not act on those desires*, and chatrooms? That to me falls more under the realm of *fantasy* then the realm of *harm.* (Of course, it's difficult to make this point in public without sounding like a pedophile, which I am not.)
Ah, it was his unquestioning support of JKR that had me labeling him as a transphobe. If he changed his mind, well, that's good then.
Apparently, he used to be a transphobe but isn't anymore.
The genocide in question is of trans people. But, uh, yeah, the residential schools thing is horrible too.
It's even rougher when you're a trans woman -- I'll never pass (transitioned too late) but without my long hair, no one even knows I'm *trying* for "girl"
There's a certain truth to that. Part of it is that we know how much joy it is to finally realize you're trans and how *liberating* it is to no longer have to perform an expected gender that no longer fits you. The other thing is that unlike gay culture, trans culture is still misunderstood and a lot of trans "eggs" don't realize things like: You didn't have to *know* as a child. You don't have to be 100% sure. You don't have to be gay "first." We want to be the people who could have helped us.
Stephen Fry, sadly, is a transphobe.
Lucky! I can't even tie my shoes right. I wear velcro.
SPEAK UP, WESLEY!
THIS... this is why I think trial by jury is the scariest fucking thing on the planet.
Yeah, but... if it happens at least once a week... HRT might be right for you.
Rocky Horror was probably a better representation than Ace Ventura, to be honest. Frank N. Furter was "evil" but in an over-the-top, camp way. We knew that portrayal wasn't supposed to be accurate to real life. Ace Ventura and (shudder) Silence of the Lambs, though...
Fuck that. Find someone genderfluid and have them alternated between girl-button and boy-button.
Oh... oh... That's... concerning. I'm absolutely lower left corner, and my girlfriend is upper right corner. This does not bode well for our chances of living a life unbothered by space pirates.
My dad thought "cache" was pronounced "kotch". I confidently corrected him: "it's pronounced cash-shay!"
The one thing Blade Runner got right about the future: Several times a day I have to prove I'm not a robot.
* Public funding of elections* Some form of proportional representation (Likely STV/Australia Senate)* Abolish the Senate* Collective Vote of No Confidence (like in Germany)* Executive drawn from the legislature
I mean... what else are you going to do? Send them to Disneyworld?
Yeah, I'll take a "Sov Cit" who doesn't believe in the law over someone who wants to use the law to harass, imprison, or intimidate me any day. Sadly, there's more overlap in that venn diagram than you would expect. Somehow. The cognitive dissonance is strong with both Sov Cits and Maga.
Yes, this bugs me severely. I had to buy a train ticket from Dublin to Galway; I was told that buying it *at the station* with *cash* meant I had to pay twice as much as buying it *online* with a credit card.
I need more of this. Not just race. Gender. Nationality. "Take my English friend to do Canadian shit" things like that.
The Dutch: "Fool me once..."
Honestly, smart. I'm 99% sure he'd take it for himself to gild his toilet paper.
Like Hitchcock's cure for insomnia.
...wait a minute. that's literally teen pregnancy. Teen pregnancy is down 70%. WHA
It's enough for me. It's not enough for Mom.
They are supposed to impeach. That's the check that Congress has on the Executive. It's too weak, sadly. I like the "Collective vote of no confidence" that the German system has, where you simultaneously remove a chancellor from power but place a new one on the same ballot. (Not like the British system, where a vote of no confidence triggers a new election).
California wasn't safe enough for me, I fled the country. Greetings from Ireland. I'm also very precarious, I have no income (I need a Stamp 1G or Stamp 1 visa to work full time, Stamp 2 only allows part-time work, and there are no part-time software engineering jobs, and I'm not allowed to work freelance.)
At least Hitler killed Hitler.
And most of FDR's debt was because of, you know, WWII.
