States have rights to tax their citizens. They are not saying give me 5% of google. They are saying you, a resident of this state, has to pay a 5% tax on your wealth. Whether your wealth is in stock, gold, real estate, pennies, it doesn't matter. Pay 5% of it in money to the state you live in. If you don't like it, move somewhere else.
I thought they funded them because the tax rate was so high that they wanted to give it to charity with their name on instead of paying taxes.
