Being altruistic in a modern society requires a certain set of skills. I don't have them. The box was so small but very heavy. Zing could not lift the box. He wondered what could be inside. Upon inspection it had a normal box lid so he opened it. The suffering inside the box was so great that he had no hope of getting the lid to fit back on.... So he sat next to his creation, his box and began to observe. Some people didn't notice any changes in the world, or Zing for that matter. They continued their days. Unchanged, unaware there was suffering to begin with. Some people stopped and upon glancing into the box would stay there motionless, staring into the suffering until they themselves got absorbed into the box. *poof* Some got angry and fought with Zing, for the exposure to such a horrible box enraged them and they knew not what to do with those emotions. And some people suggested Zing even make a coin or two showing off his box. Zing knew now he hadn't saved anyone. His box had changed absolutely nothing.
Its the same as hand soap. There's antibacterial hand soap and there's regular ol' hand soap. Bonus some floor cleaners don't clean they just glaze a layer of wax over the dirt. Now that is maddening.
But the family's dog lived.

One of my favorite people would over coffee discuss hypothetical engineering predicaments with me. From better coffee lids that don't leak at the seam to over complicated caskets it always made my day and your legitimate answer gives me that nostalgic feeling. It was a joke, poorly worded and immediately misunderstood. That led to a bandwagon down voting. But read the original again in the voice of an SNL news caster and I think it's funny. A lake getting angry and summoning bad weather over being called by the wrong name, throwing a tantrum and slamming its Niagara Falls door shut and going home....home where?
