Its DIY so "need" is a loose term. For this exact design, yes - But you can alter the design. Saw designs with Gamecube Joysticks used.
The right Z actually maps to R and the left Z toggles between L and Z (toggle switch on top) - Video in one of the links explains it.

there were 3 prongs on the N64 controller - Middle prong had a trigger (Z) and the left and right prong had shoulder buttons (L and R)

Totally worth it. Went a few years ago, lucked out with a warmer than average NYE. Definitely something I'm glad at did once.
Personally I went 3 years ago and I really enjoyed it. Granted, it was one of the warmer NYEs but still was definitely worth it.
True but the place near my home where gas is consistently the cheapest is 100% full service. So even with paid pumpers its competitive.
Yeah I knew tax had a ton to do with it, but if the taxes are so low that even with paid pumpers its still much cheaper then why not?
