Moose aren't TERRIBLY dangerous as long as you've got a nice solid tree to keep between you and them. Bears are too agile for that to work.
Only the really big ones walk away from small cars hitting them. Any medium size vehicle will kill it.

The only people that harp on it are people who dislike cars. They don't want to foot the bill to maintain mandatory infrastructure.
