Not sure what part of the world you have been doing your sales, but up here in Canada, our sales ppl aren't overly aggressive or "dickish".
So have I. My problem is you muddled everyone together. They are doing what they can to make a living, just like you and me.
Then you never actually worked in sales. The pressure to hit quotas is significantly high, especially in kiosks.
