I have a hard time with the concept of Heaven. It sounds rather boring. Makes me think that they created Hell because the ad campaign for heaven wasn't going over very well.
NPR did a piece on ladybugs. It seems that the ones you can buy through the mail primarily come from the mountains of Arizona. Problem is, that is their territory, their place. They're not really suited for other areas, but will compete with the local ladybugs for resources. But mostly, they swarm and fly off when released, and end up protecting someone else's garden. Your best bet to get ladybugs in your garden is to plant flower varieties which will attract them.
As far as the unpaid labor goes, just say "No".
The first clip brings back a memory from 2 yo me. I walked into the open oven door and burned my belly. I still have a remnant of the scar 67 years later.
22) This is something I've been looking for for a while: voters overriding legislators doing what they don't want. We need more of this.
If you're wondering why ICE is being asked to do this, and not the FBI, it's because ICE has become Diaper Donnie's private security service/army. Why was ICE providing security for Vance in Italy during the Olympics, and not the Secret Service? Private army. The FBI and Secret Service have rules they have to follow. ICE, as we have seen, can do what they want with impunity.
I don't think I would want to own any work of art, especially one made by someone else. I do not value art as a commodity. I like to look at it. I sometimes try to make it. But I have no need to own it.
There are much simpler ways to transfer circular motion from one plane to another. In any practical application this would create unnecessary high amplitude vibration, leading to frequent failures.
Not hours, minutes.
Exposing children to religion early can prepare them for what people will say later in life. But only if you approach their questions honestly. Today's religions have logic errors which kids are not yet blind to. Be open about these errors and how you explain them to yourself. In these discussions, you might learn more than your kids.
I've known people who've "found Jesus" as adults. They tend to be more radical about their religion that people who grew up in it. Kind of like the way former smokers are more anti-smoking than never smokers.
#2 Actually, the internet did come in the mail. AOL used to send out free install disks. You didn't have to ask for them, they were sent out as bulk/mass/junk mail.
Disney got it wrong. If you had to name Goofy's breed, he looks to be a great dane type. He should have been a husky.
People are creative. We love to make things. People are curious. We love to take things apart to see how they work. The "profit motive", the drive to always have more, is really just a mental disease. Most people don't want to be RICH, they just want to be able to live a meaningful life without worrying about where their next meal will come from, or who will feed my kids when I'm sick.
Please explain. Last I heard, SCOTUS gave Diaper Donnie the green light to continue his voting suppression.
#12 "Thanks for telling me what you already did."
#3 Please tell me the original floors are still under there.
I voted for Markey, even though he pulled a Biden in the last debate when asked about AI.
It was a 50-50 night for progressives vs. appeasers in MA. Some big wins, some close losses.
I don't have a problem with the cameras, per se, only with who is using them and how they are being used. They are a good tool for finding bad people. But there needs to be safeguards put in place. Peter Thiel should not have access to his own cameras. The video storage needs to be with the judicial branch and require a judge's signature to initiate a search. And judges can be impeached for allowing frivolous searches. That's the only way this will work.
An oxymoron, kind of like thunderous silence.
Dropped my "mail-in" ballot in the drop box outside the town hall. Even in solid blue MA I didn't want to take the chance of using the USPS.
#14 When I toss a lighter into the trash, I always miss. I get up, pick up the lighter, go back to my stool, sit back down and toss it again. If I miss again, I do it again, rather than just picking it up and placing it into the trash.
YES! What part of paying their fair share do you not understand? Why shouldn't the people with the most money contribute the most to society? IT IS THEIR DUTY. To not do so would be immoral.
It looks fun doing it that way, but it would be faster to just throw the whole wad of paper in at once.
I would like to see it, but I won't believe it until then. They tried last time and failed miserably.
#32 Valid means "Yes, you are feeling that." But valid does not mean accurate. One needs to recognize their feelings, but not let them have control. Instead, ask yourself, "Why do I feel this way?", because feelings are about the way we see the world, but not always how the world really is.
"Contact us for pricing" translates to "No, you don't want to shop here." If you're going to play secret games, you can play by yourself.
Corporate likes computers to go to sleep when not in use for more than 10 minutes. This is a problem when you have a bank of monitors to watch, but you don't actually do anything to the screens. So we had IT install a small program called "Caffine", which keeps the computer from going to sleep. We just have to remember to run it each time we re-boot a machine.
IIRC, Joe Biden did use the SOR during COVID, and then replaced what we used before the end of his term. Drowsy Donnie started a war in the place where EVERYBODY gets their oil, sending prices soaring, leading him to release oil from the SOR to try to control prices. But somehow that's not his fault.
