IQ is just a proxy for intelligence that’s heavily biased to a western education. They are measuring education and socioeconomic status as much as intelligence. They are useful in that context , but the obvious racist interpretations of differences are deeply problematic.
His claim about IQ being 60, is not far off the average of studies: 70. However there is heavy cultural, linguistic and educational bias in how IQ is measured. Removing the most flawed studies it’s closer to 82 about a SD, a similar gap to black Americans in the late 20th century. The within groups variance shows this is almost entirely socioeconomic, and indeed black IQ scores have closed that gap for that reason. The gap disappears when you compare people with access to high quality education

Massey is most definitely not a party line tower, he introduced the Epstein bill, he voted against the BBB and he has been a vocal opponent of funding Israel’s genocide. He’s still a republican so I’m toning to disagree with 90% of his other positions, but he has more principles and spine than a lot of Democrats.
You need to read his record to understand why he lost his primary was because of the AIPAC money spent against him for doing stuff exactly like this.

This overstates the case I think. The far right OAS was behind the assassination attempt, but they were encouraged by the CIA in earlier attempts to overthrow de Gaulle in a coup in Algiers. Kennedy intervened. There is speculation but no evidence of involvement in the actual assassination. But the CIA was doing a lot of bad shit in the 60s so it’s understandable people would connect the dots.

I get this sucks for trans kids and the rate of kids on blockers who go on to transition is very high. But adolescence is a tough time and every kid deserves some careful help to work out what’s right for them. BTW: OCD in trans people about not being trans is also not uncommon. Life is hard.

In the US 3% of kids 13-15 identify as trans, 2.2% are questioning, adult prevalence is <1%. No one really knows exactly why this drop off rate. But the caution here is that being careful to seperate truly trans kids is important and there is a trade off to be had
Agree with all that. However, the article says it’s a myth that blockers harms kids bones which is nonsense. It actually mostly confirms it, but thankfully it’s partly recoverable, and as you say a minor issue relatively (hopefully). Transphobes won’t change their minds but we are much better to be honest about the limitations of our knowledge, and as you say educate people that we don’t take these things lightly, while acknowledging that great benefit these treatments have.
It’s partially mitigated only by going off them plus supplementation but with uncertainty that’s what the study says. More research is needed, hopefully a better regimen can reduce the effects or at least the risks can be more well known.
