The sad truth is that right now is the most awake I've ever seen my community to the fascist regime around us and it's only because they've gone fully mask off. And 90 percent of them still aren't willing to have their neighbor's back. This country is intensely sick and it's not going to miraculously recover its immune system in a week. Not even if the flawless tactical intellect of BrdCdn were to come down there themselves to whip us all into shape.
These aren't excuses, they're the truth. And I'm aware, I've been trying to get people to wake up to the fact that fascism was gaining power at an incredible rate basically my entire adult life. But people in this country continue to sleepwalk. And again: singular heros don't work. The most important thing you need to organize resistance is people, and people have been trained not to trust their neighbors and look out for number 1 here, that makes collective action extremely difficult.
Luigi Mangione did, and people did not band around him and rise up. Chamel Abdulkarim did, and people did not band around him and rise up. Singular heros do not work. If mine does, then others do too. I don't see any reason to be optimistic right now. I only see tough times and a tougher future. And I'm hoping I don't die of cancer or a bullet before I can actually see hope in the horizon again.
I never said "give up, do nothing" but I'm actually out there protesting, patrolling, and trying to get people to care and seeing the apathy that allowed us to get here firsthand. That's why I'm cynical. Again, I hope you are right, but the evidence of my own fucking eyes tells me a different story. So unless you have a great plan that you're putting into motion that promises great results, don't blow smoke up my ass.
If you didn't vote in the primary I don't wanna hear you bitching about the Dem candidate on the ballot. You fucking had your chance and you didn't take it. That's on you. The least you can do is damage control.
